Continuing west on 66...we drive into Davenport, OK. The town of Davenport, Its Brick Paved Broadway Street is listed as a Historical Place, its vintage Texaco and Magnolia filling stations, the Tallest Mural on Route 66, the first natural gas Spherical Tank in the world, and the original historic 1915 roadbed of the original Ozark Trail which was the first alignment of Route 66 in Davenport. Many beautiful murals are scattered around Davenport. The Farmers Bank building dates back to 1905 and is on the corner of Main & Broadway.

Many beautiful murals are scattered around Davenport. Davenport lobbied to be on the main road to link Oklahoma City with Tulsa (see Ozark Trail below) in 1915, and was successful. Later Route 66 would use that same alignment and Davenport would benefit from the travelers that drove down the Mother Road. In 1926 the town paved its main street (Broadway) with bricks.

Texaco Service Station Route 66 and Broadway at 7th St. At the curve is a refurbished 1933 Texaco station. It has one canopy covering the filling bay which is supported by a central column. The canopy and the building have a low steel sheet hip-roof.
