Route 66 next hits the town of Sapulpa, OK... Waite Phillips Filling Station...The original building was built in 1923 by Waite Phillips, it served as a filling station. And did so until Route 66 was replaced by I-44 which bypassed Salpupa. It was restored by the Sapulpa Historical Society and is currently used as a museum which houses vintage cars from the 1920s.

With it’s majestic columns, stained glass windows, and hand painted decor; it is truely an architectural jewel. The House was built in 1911 by an early day oilman, Bates Burnett. He was a southern gentleman from Tennessee who wanted to build a home that reflected elegance and style. He spared no expense in its construction. The wealth of detail and care is evident throughout the home.
